Chris Guenther
BIO
Raised in rural Southwest Washington, Chris Guenther was born with hard country music in his veins. While high school peers followed contemporary music trends, Guenther gravitated towards the classic country sounds favored by an older generation. Neo-traditionalist like George Strait and Alan Jackson became role models. With a strong focus and advanced musical ability, Guenther released his debut album ‘Honky Tonk Livin’, in 2001 and started his own independent record label, Blackboard Records. Gaining only modest attention, Guenther was slow with a follow up. Rather than waste time waiting for something to break loose in the country music business, Guenther worked on completing his Bachelor’s degree at Washington State University, while taking low-paying gigs and minimum wage jobs. Struggling to fight off reconciliation between his dream and reality, Chris came close to setting his musical ambition aside.
Nearly five years after his debut CD release, Chris decided that it was time to return to the studio once again. In February 2005 he began producing his second CD, ‘Destinations Unknown’. A stripped-to-basics offering that relies on a simple formula, well written songs, played straight up and sung convincingly by a strong country vocalist. The sound is every bit his own, honest and true country music with no apologies.
Chris Guenther isn’t the type to rest on his laurels. He has worked hard to attain all the opportunities he has been given. He is a poet- musician that writes from his soul and from a well of experience. He is not a one-dimensional figure but a multifaceted artist with an uncanny ability to tell a story and connect with his audience.

Press & Reviews
Chris's newest release 'Destinations Unknown' is out and beginning to hit the streets. Chris has delivered a CD that showcases his natural gift to relate stories and reveal situations with genuine emotion and insight, backed by solid song structure and musicianship. A great blend of country, western, folk and Americana that builds on the sounds of country music's predecessors. Chris Guenther has a raw intensity that exudes poetic realism.
I have been programming music for our TLC Radio stations, and going through your "Destinations Unknown" album. I think you have a great country sound. A pleasant country voice that¹s very easy to listen to and songs that tell a story. Congratulations on a set of well written songs. I do like "I Gunned Him Down". The album is upbeat and still very country. The music is tight and wraps itself neatly around your songs. We are very pleased to have your music on our stations, and thank Comstock for sending you to us!

The Fall season began amazingly because of Comstock Records! Just September 21 arrived a package with one of the most brilliant indie artist listened to this year: Chris Guenther's genuine and outstanding country music took me by suprise. Speaking of the quality and freshness of this album, "Catch and Release" starts the CD with a bang and all the other tracks confirm how good a singer and songwriter he is. Great!
